Tómas Már Sigurdsson appointed as Chief Executive Officer of HS Orka
HS Orka, Iceland’s leading private renewable energy company, has appointed Tómas Már Sigurdsson as Chief Executive Officer. He will take up his new role in January 2020.
Mr Sigurdsson joins HS Orka following a successful career at Alcoa, where he was most recently Senior Vice President with responsibility for the company’s strategic alliances.

“Tómas has broad experience in Iceland’s energy market as well as in project management and strategic planning, both domestically and abroad. His expertise will be invaluable as we take HS Orka through its next phase of growth.”
Mr Sigurdsson commented:

Mr. Sigurdsson worked at Alcoa for 15 years where he held roles including President for Alcoa in Iceland, Europe and the Middle East, and Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for the company worldwide. Prior to joining Alcoa, Mr Sigurdsson was Technical Director at the Norðurál aluminum plant. Mr Sigurdsson has a degree in environmental engineering from the University of Iceland and a master’s degree from Cornell University in the United States. He has served on the board of various companies and organizations, including as President of The Iceland Chamber of Commerce (2009-2012), board member for The Federation of Icelandic Industries (2005-2011) and board member for Europe Aluminum, the aluminum industry association.
