In Trölladyngja there are springs and a continuous
transformation on a tract of land which lies east of Djúpavatn
and west around Oddafell. The hot spring activity is rather
dull, with two springs near Sogið; steam with some sulfur and
hot spring craters below the ridges and hitaskellur in Oddafell.
There are craters and large cinder crater that lie above the
above mentioned A-V skák. The transformation is mainly in Sogar
where there is a large area transformed into clay. West of the
ridges from Sogar in the south near Hverinn there is tuff which
is also transformed, but nearly as much as in Sogar. There are
two explosion craters from the Ice Age and water in some.
Djúpavatn was formed this way too. Calcium deposits are also
found in two areas. A heat strip with steam springs lies from
Trölladyngja to Eldborg, north in Lambafell, and is also
entirely one chasm.
The Hverinn is located in lava southwest of
the Southwest end of Oddafell. Steam phenomenon with some sulfur
can be found in lava formations and some steam is in the
surrounding area. There nearby there is some silicone and cold
spring holes in it. In Trölladyngja there are two boreholes, one
with a spring chasm north under it, the other in spring area
west under the ridges. Both are around 260°C high up, but
decrease in temperature however the deeper holes reaches a high
of 320°C at depth of two kilometers.
