Collaboration between Jarðboranir hf., and HS Orka hf.
During these past few years, Jarðboranir and HS Orka hf., have worked together in
overhauling borehole procedures, with the goal of making
borehole production more efficient. Many changes have been
implemented, especially now since nearly all construction of the
drilling is handled by the contractor. Obviously, there have
been quite a few changes to the work procedures and protocol of
Jarðboranir and HS Orka hf., compared to before when
all work was done during fixed day prices, whereas now all
borehole work is done in units. With these new changes, which
themselves are under constant revision, an entirely new work
environment has risen.
There are constant attempts to increase information flow regarding borehole
procedure. Whilst drilling hole RN-12 a new information system
was implemented, making it possible for the contractive to check
on progress, on a computer screen, of the borehole construction.
The register system, to which the contractive gains access, is
owned by Jarðboranir, and was designed jointly with the
engineering firm Vista. Registration is handled by the
control room's computer that is placed in the control room of
the drill, and is networked with other computers through a
wireless connection. The system is not only very reliable, but
easy to use and powerful with a user friendly interface where
everything necessary to track ongoing construction of the
borehole is displayed on one screen. By implementing these
changes Jarðboranir hf. has shown how willing it is to provide
top notch service and to lead the pack in technology.
It can be said, without a doubt, that no contractive makes as stringent demands and as
is so willing to embrace new technology, including new borehole
technology if it leads to reduction in drilling costs and more
feasible production, as HS Orka hf. Every year as soon as one job
is completed new ways to improve technology are sought out, how work procedures can be
improved, decreasing the size of operations and by setting
stricter demands for environmental issues. This work, which is
meant to increase efficiency and promote results, is a
collaboration between companies, where specialists collaborate
and brainstorm, resulting in these specialists' ideas and
suggestion on bore drilling work procedures being undertaken. It
should be obvious to all that stagnation is something that will
not stand in HS Orka hf, neither by board
members or other employees of the company; working procedures
that were applied in the past or yesterday are not the same as
those that will be applied today.
Working with HS Orka hf., for Jarðboranir hf is a
very prosperous venture because a firm like Jarðboranir makes
its living on being a progressive company with years of
experience, because criticism and encouragement, from both
parties, are put forth in a positive manner so that the work
procedure adjusts. This cooperation of both companies along with
the combined will to develop effective work procedures has led
to lower drilling costs and increased safety in drilling
procedures.
